BaD Radio - Recap - 8/17/11

Posted on 13:38 by Unknown

Wednesday 8/17/11

Episode: 2997

Location: Studio

The Mix: Norm’s favorite TV show is The Big Bang Theory, he’s from the Laugh Track Generation.

The Open: “You cannot get honey from a hornet’s nest.” “What are some of your likes? Ghouls.” Donovan wants the stage. He tries to stay athletic by playing softball 2 nights a week and hates it that everyone takes it too seriously. He’s the pitcher and they played the 2nd place team last night (the other team is all related) and they are rocking his world. The dad on the other team ropes one and is going for an in the park home run, Donovan went to cover home, the dad slid into home, came up short, and broke his ankle (he turned it 180 degrees). His foot was backwards, compound fracture style. The 2nd baseman threw up. They forfeited, so Donovan’s team won and ends the season 4 and 4.

12:40 – Eli Manning Talk: The Giants QB said in an interview recently that he puts himself in the same class as Tom Brady. A bold claim to say the least. Bob recently ran some numbers on his blog about the playoff records of some of the bigger names amongst the NFL QBs. Manning has only reached a 90.0 QB Rating once in his career and beyond a 4 week span in which the Giants won the Super Bowl, he is a mediocre QB at best. Other than that playoff run, he’s 0-3 in the playoffs. Does winning a Super Bowl give you a lifetime exemption from people questioning your skills? The Super Bowl is always a trump card. Eli is also coming off a 25 interception season last year.

1:00 – Random Talk: Ndamukong Suh of the Detroit Lions gave a choke slam to the Bengals QB Andy Dalton and went to the Twitterverse to voice his displeasure of the $20K fine. Tom Grieve voiced his displeasure over the other teams stealing the “Claw” and “Antlers”. This was all brought on by the Rangers unveiling some new “Cobra” style celebration. Other theories are that it’s a “Duck” for “Ducks on the Pond”. Tom wants us to start waterboarding players in order to get answers.

1:15 – Most Eligible Dallas: Two nights ago, BRAVO debuted premiered a show which is pretty much like Jersey Shore in Dallas. It’s effing ridiculous. It’s about 6 friends in Dallas who are way more awesome than you. One girl describes Dallas as a small big city and everyone knows everyone. One of the bachelors is former Texas QB, his statline, 8-14 for 64 yards and 1 INT. One guy was a punter in the NFL and he’s not afraid to tell people about it. His name is Glen Pakulak. Don’t watch this show, it sucks.

1:40 – The Tom Grieve Show: Tom joins the show from Anaheim. The team is playing great right now and Tom is quick to point out the pitching. The Rangers are deep from the starters all the way to the end of the game. Mike Napoli is hitting better now than he ever has in his career, he’s one of the better hitters in the league since the All-Star break. We’re getting great all around productivity from both Napoli and Yorvit. Tom says that CJ is pitching very well and is definitely increasing his stock value for free agency. Bob points out that CJ is quick to put pressure on himself and sometimes pops off his mouth but is not afraid to back it up on the field. Tom agrees. Tom says that he or Dave Barnett had no idea that Beltre was dropping S-bombs on the air.

2:10 – Dennis Rodman Talk: This past weekend Dennis Rodman was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. He’s a 7 time rebounding champ and former defensive player of the year, plus he has 5 rings. He only averaged double-digit points once in his career but his rebounding numbers are top tier. He was reality tv before reality tv. He was a forerunner of the absurd. Here’s his very emotional/ridiculous/awkward HoF speech.

2:40 – Random Segment: Poot from the Wire, Tray Chaney, has released a new rap mixtape to Bob’s delight. Tray is also under the impression that Bob holds the key to the Dallas party scene. Ralph Strangis is starring in a theatrical production of “Murder at the Howard Johnson’s” in Coppell.

3:00 – Why Today Doesn’t Suck: On this day in 2001 Danny Almonte threw the first perfect game in Little League World Series since 1944. Happy Birthday to Brian Mitchell, Planet of the Gapes, Denis Leary, Martin Mull, Edward Norton, Christian Slater, Robert Redford, Roman Polanski and Malcom Jamal Warner. Spares today are Bruce Benedict, Isaac Austin, Greg Pruitt and Matt Snell. RIP to Patrick Swayze.

Listen to BaD Radio everyday from 12 – 3pm on Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket. I do, and I has opulence.
